About Us

We write about the Scottish Highlands because we can't stop going there. This site is our attempt to share what we've learned — the good spots, the hard-won tips, and the places we probably shouldn't tell anyone about.

Roam Glade started in 2025 with a simple idea: the internet has plenty of Scotland travel guides, but most of them are either written by people who spent three days here five years ago, or they\'re AI-generated fluff that tells you the Fairy Pools are "a hidden gem."

We live in Scotland. We hike the trails, drive the single-track roads, get bitten by the midges, and spend our rainy weekends in bothies and pubs. Every guide on this site is written by someone who has actually been to the place they\'re writing about — usually multiple times, in multiple seasons, in varying states of preparedness.

What We Believe

Honest advice over marketing copy. We tell you when a popular attraction is overcrowded and not worth the queue. We tell you when a castle tour is overpriced. We tell you which month the midges will make you want to quit and go home.

Specific details over generic descriptions. "Stunning views" tells you nothing. "The car park fills by 9am in July and costs £6, bring coins because the machine doesn\'t take cards" — that\'s useful.

The outdoors is for everyone — but safety matters. You don\'t need to be a mountaineer to love the Highlands. But you do need a waterproof jacket and the sense to check the weather forecast. We try to make the practical stuff clear without being preachy.

How We Make Money

This site is free. We fund it through affiliate partnerships — if you book accommodation or a tour through one of our links, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We only recommend things we\'d recommend to a friend. Affiliate links are always clearly marked.

If you\'d like to get in touch, email us at [email protected] or use the contact page.
